RunEasy ("the App") is a watchOS application that helps you train in zone 2 using talk tests. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App collects and how it is used.
Data We Collect
The App accesses the following data on your Apple Watch:
Heart rate — read in real time via HealthKit during workouts
Workout metrics — distance, pace, cadence, and elevation via HealthKit
Microphone audio — captured during talk tests to analyze speech patterns, and when you choose to record a post-workout voice note
Location — recorded during outdoor workouts, if you allow it, so the workout saved to Apple Health includes a route map
Age — entered manually to estimate heart rate zones before you calibrate
How We Use Your Data
Heart rate and workout metrics are used solely to provide real-time zone 2 feedback on your watch.
Talk tests. Audio is analyzed entirely on your Apple Watch for breath patterns, vocal strain and speech fluency, then immediately discarded. This audio is never recorded to a file, stored, or transmitted anywhere.
Voice notes. These work differently, because they are yours to keep. If you record one after a workout, the audio is saved on your watch, transferred to your paired iPhone, and converted to text. Transcription uses Apple's speech recognition, which runs on your iPhone when it supports on-device recognition and otherwise processes the audio through Apple's speech service. The audio file is deleted once transcribed; the text is stored with the workout.
Location is used to build the workout route saved to Apple Health. It is not transmitted anywhere by us.
Your age is stored locally to estimate heart-rate zones, and your measured zones are stored locally once you calibrate.
Workout session history is stored locally on your watch and paired iPhone.
Data Sharing
RunEasy has no servers of its own. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking SDK. We never receive your data.
Two things can leave your devices, and only at your instruction:
Strava. If you connect a Strava account, completed workouts are uploaded to Strava as activities — duration, distance, heart-rate summary, your time in zone, and the text of any voice note attached to that workout. Nothing is sent to Strava unless you connect it, and you can disconnect at any time. Your Strava credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain on your iPhone.
Voice note transcription. As described above, transcription may be performed by Apple's speech recognition service if your iPhone does not support on-device recognition for your language. This is Apple's processing, governed by Apple's privacy policy; we do not receive the audio or the text.
Data Storage
Session history and your age preference are stored in the app's local storage on your Apple Watch. You can delete this data by uninstalling the App.
HealthKit
The App reads and writes workout data through Apple HealthKit. This data is governed by Apple's HealthKit privacy policies and your device settings. You can manage HealthKit permissions in Settings > Health > Data Access on your iPhone.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content.
